Utah Avalanche Center
We all know Utah has the Greatest Snow on Earth—it’s one of the reasons we live here. But did you know it also has some of the highest avalanche danger in the world? These avalanches don’t just strike extreme backcountry athletes. They can impact any of us—from snowmobilers to snowshoers to winter hikers—in Park City and beyond. The Utah Avalanche Center helps reduce that risk significantly. Programs include daily avalanche and mountain weather advisories for five regions across the state—including the central Wasatch and Uinta mountains—and the free Know Before You Go avalanche awareness program, which is presented more than 200 times per season to school and community groups. With the help of these vital community services, avalanche fatalities in Utah have dropped steadily for years. But for residents to learn this life-saving information, financial support is critical. Utah Avalanche Center relies on private donations and grants to deliver ongoing avalanche awareness, education, research, and forecasting. With your gift, you can help keep these programs going season after season—so you, your family, and our entire community can get out, have fun, and come home safely.
