If you’ve ever admired a well-told story, then you already know what makes the Sundance Institute so special. Through the lens of independent film and art, the Sundance Institute brings the world to Park City, exploring issues and experiences that are often far removed from our daily lives. This doesn’t just happen every January when the world-renowned Sundance Film Festival comes to town. It happens all year long with diverse events and in-school programs. With its outdoor summer film series in City Park, residents and visitors alike gather to attend free independent film screenings under the stars. Theater performances, live music, and panel discussions are also hosted year-round, often in partnership with local nonprofit organizations, special interest groups, and community leaders. As part of its mission to give everyone in our community the opportunity to experience independent film, theater, and music, the Institute offers year-round community outreach programs and complimentary tickets to the Sundance Film Festival—giving approximately 20,000 Summit County residents and students the opportunity to participate in its world-class cultural programs. It’s all part of the Institute’s mission to promote the discovery and development of independent artists and audiences—and it’s all made possible by a community of passionate and dedicated supporters.
