Peace House
Peace House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of family violence and abuse in Summit and Wasatch counties, through shelter, support services, outreach and education. Domestic violence is a serious health issue in Utah. Whereas 1 in 4 women are affected by domestic violence nationally, that number comes to 1 in 3 in our state. This past summer, Peace House opened the doors to a new community campus enabling an expansion of available victim services. Peace House seeks to meet the immediate needs of survivors through the emergency shelter program while offering comprehensive wrap around services, such as legal advocacy and clinical therapy, to support emotional healing and economic empowerment. Peace House also provides prevention education in all local schools to affect long term change.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, there has been a significant spike in domestic violence reports as quarantine measures have further isolated domestic abuse victims. Peace House is committed to protecting the health of staff and volunteers while continuing to offer uninterrupted services to the most vulnerable members of our community, throughout the pandemic and beyond.
